A Google engineer was fired yesterday after he wrote a memo arguing that women are biologically less suited for software engineering jobs compared to men and that.

Things You Didn't Know About Batman & Robin“I want a car. Chicks dig the car.” Those words, spoken by the Boy Wonder himself, open 1. Batman & Robin. They are a harbinger of (bad) things to come. The movie, which was the fourth in the original big screen series of Dark Knight adventures, was critically lambasted and ridiculed by audiences. Despite a box office take of just over $1.

Megyn Kelly's eagerly anticipated show with the the Today Show has a new, and fitting name. Megyn Kelly Today will debut at 9am weekdays starting September 25.

The film suffers from a weak script, some genuinely off- the- mark casting choices, absurd action sequences, and an excess of mayhem that prevents the story from ever being as coherent as a good superhero picture needs to be. Also, nipples on the Batsuit. Nevertheless, Batman & Robin remains an important film of its kind, if only because it serves as an example of how not to tell a superhero story onscreen. To look back at this maligned, yet vital motion picture, we have put together the following list of facts and curiosities. We aren’t going to argue that the movie is good or underrated, nor are we here to suggest that those who, for whatever reason, like it are wrong.

That said, we do hope that the following entries help explain why things went so massively off course, as well as why the film remains a bizarretouchstone in the annals of comic book cinema. Here are 1. 5 Things You Didn’t Know About Batman & Robin. Toy sales were the studio’s top concern.

Joel Schumacher took over the director’s chair from Tim Burton for 1. Batman Forever. Although the tone of that film was noticeably lighter than Burton’s two previous entries, it was mostly well- regarded by fans and critics. The series seemed to be in fairly good hands. The fate of Batman & Robin was probably sealed from the beginning, however, as Warner Bros. Why did they want to fast- track things? According to an interview with Schumacher in the DVD bonus features, the interest wasn’t so much in making a good Batman picture as it was in being “toyetic.” WB worked with toy companies during the pre- production phase, trying to ensure that there would be all kinds of cool playthings spun off from the film. They even had a say in how the Batmobile was going to look.

That, in turn, meant that the movie would have to conform to the toy plans to a substantial degree. Crafting a movie to fit merchandising goals is a recipe for creative disaster, as those involved found out the hard way. George Clooney was cast because of problems with Val Kilmer.

Batman & Robin featured the third different Dark Knight in four pictures. Michael Keaton bowed out after playing the character twice for Tim Burton, and Val Kilmer had taken over for Schumacher’s first outing, Batman Forever.

The actor and the director famously clashed on set, so obviously, neither of them were eager to collaborate once more. But other factors were involved in the split. Kilmer had signed on to do The Saint, and also had an opportunity to co- star alongside legendary thespian Marlon Brando in the ill- fated Island of Dr.

Moreau — a chance he told Schumacher he couldn’t pass up. With the studio wanting to fast- track production, he simply wouldn’t be available.

And with that, Kilmer was out. The director has claimed in the past that he came up with the idea of George Clooney for Batman after drawing a cowl over the actor’s face on a still photo from the movie From Dusk Till Dawn. More recently, though, he did an interview with Vice in which he gave credit to Warner Bros. Chief Executive Bob Daly, who was eager to find a big movie role for the star of the WB- produced hit TV series ER. With that, a new Batman was born. David Duchovny and Sharon Stone were considered for roles. A big part of the appeal of the original Batman franchise was seeing major stars cast in the roles of famous comic book heroes and villains.

The success or failure of superhero movies, then and now, often depends on how good the casting is. During the period after Kilmer left and before Clooney came on board, Schumacher considered David Duchovny for Batman. Watch Spy Kids Online Free HD.

He was hot off The X- Files at the time, and the director thought he might have the correct intensity for the role. Several other big- name actors were under consideration to play the film’s villains. Many of the top actresses of the mid- ’9. Poison Ivy to life, as Demi Moore and Sharon Stone were among the names that got tossed around before the part finally went to Uma Thurman. Julia Roberts, often mentioned as a potential Poison Ivy, was never up for the role, according to Schumacher.) Perhaps the most oddball near- miss choice was Anthony Hopkins for Dr. Freeze. There’s no doubt that the Silence of the Lambs Oscar winner is a great actor, but he’s also physically the polar opposite of eventual star Arnold Schwarzenegger. Then again, given how poorly Arnold’s performance was received, maybe Hopkins would have been a better choice.

Arnold Schwarzenegger received top billing – and a pretty penny for his work. For a movie called Batman & Robin, you might think that the actors portraying the titular characters would get top billing. Or least the actor playing Batman.) That wasn’t the case, however, because while Clooney was popular from ER, he was not yet the A- list star we know him as today. O’Donnell, meanwhile, fell squarely into the “up- and- coming” category. Scent of a Woman, Mad Love, and The Chamber put him on the map, but he wasn’t a proven box office draw.

Arnold Schwarzenegger, on the other hand, was one of the biggest movie stars in the world at that time, and he therefore was able to demand — and receive — top billing. A similar thing happened on the original Batman, when Oscar winner Jack Nicholson received top billing over Michael Keaton.) Of course, a star of his caliber comes with a price, and Arnold reportedly walked away with a $2.

Given that he only had about thirty or so minutes of screen time, the salary is an astonishing example of his stature in the industry. Schwarzenegger and Chris O’Donnell didn’t work together. By all accounts, the movie’s production was massive. Aside from the main unit, which filmed all the scenes with the actors, there was a lot of second and third unit work taking place simultaneously. Those units took care of things like insert shots and stunts.

Chris O’Donnell, in a making- of documentary on the DVD, said that he’s watched the film and been unable to recall filming certain sequences. Then he remembers that it’s his body double or stuntman who performed those scenes. That extended to the other stars, as well. In fact, because of the complexity of the shoot, O’Donnell didn’t actually work with Schwarzenegger. Says the actor, “I was in a lot of scenes with Mr. Freeze, but I didn’t work a single day with Arnold. Not a single day.

I was on the set with him a lot, to hang out and talk to, and I did a lot of publicity with him.” They did not, however, act opposite one another. He further adds that the Mr. Freeze suit was so complicated to put on and so cumbersome to wear that Schwarzenegger only donned it when he had to, letting his body double do anything that didn’t require seeing his face. Alicia Silverstone was plagued by rumors about her weight. Alicia Silverstone seemed like a great choice to play Batgirl in 1. The Crush and a couple of Aerosmith music videos got her some notice, and Clueless (released two years prior) made her a bonafide star. Even if her screen persona didn’t seem like a completely natural fit for the character’s image, the actress was all the rage at that particular moment in pop culture, which made her casting feel inspired. Unfortunately for Silverstone, things quickly backfired.

As it turned out, the actress gained a small amount of weight during the shoot, requiring her costume to be refitted. As per a recent Hollywood Reporter article, a storyboard artist on the production mocked her by drawing an image of the actress struggling to get into a corset and circulating it through the art department.

Cringeworthy CGI Moments In Superhero Movies. Superhero movies wouldn’t be possible without computer generated imagery. They let the audience go to fantastic worlds and see feats and characters we would otherwise be unable to present on screen. They are instrumental in everything from Superman flying to Ant- Man shrinking, and from Krypton to Asgard. CGI has come a long with since the new millennium. However, with this ubiquity comes more instances of CGI coming up short. Plenty of films over- rely on CGI spectacles, but even movies that use CGI sparingly can have moments of terrible effects.

For the purpose of this list we will look at not just bad CGI moments, but also moments when the digital special effects were so bad that they drew attention to themselves and distracted from the film they were meant to enhance. This means that these moments might be missing crucial believable details, look nothing like their source material, or look just plain lazy. Watch Gut Dailymotion on this page.

Some of these may be written off as poorly aged but technological advancement does not make up for a lack of effort or artistic effectiveness. Here are the 1. 5 Most Cringeworthy CGI Moments In Superhero Movies. JELLY KELLY IN X- MENIn the original X- Men, Senator Kelly is championing the Mutant Registration Act which would let the Federal Government track mutants and their powers. Magneto, in his vengeful campaign to safeguard mutants, kidnaps the senator and forces him to undergo a rapid, unnatural mutation. After this, Kelly manages to escape his captors with his new powers, and falls into the sea. He washes up on a public peach with dozens of witnesses, looking like he’s in flux as some kind of humanoid aquatic creature.

The bad CGI doesn’t really standout until Senator Kelly is laying on the med bay table in Professor Xavier’s school. Storm is watching over him when he suddenly starts pooling profusely and eventually melts into nothing. The textures and details of Kelly’s face look hastily tacked on, given the fact that he’s dissolving. His hand looks more like it’s breaking into glass rather than dissolving around Storm’s own hand.

CATWOMAN CLIMBING BUILDINGSIt’s hard to find a single redeeming quality about the 2. Catwoman movie. Halle Berry may have been a fine fit for the character, and her outfit may have been sexy if it wasn’t supposed to be a Catwoman costume.

There is no redeeming this mess. The mediocre CGI is far from the worst part of the movie, but it’s still pretty bad and distracting. The scene where Patience Phillips washes up on the shore of a toxic waste dump has dozens of cats gathering around her.

It’s hard to tell if any of the shots feature real cats since the sequence as a whole is so dimly lit. However, the scenes with CGI cats can be spotted instantly. Later on in the movie, when Patience dons her Catwoman costume, she goes running across the rooftops back to the factory.

Her CGI model looks like it has been lifted out of a cheap video game, with rubbery animation tracking shots. ANG LEE’S HULKEven the non- Hulk title movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe are far better Hulk movies– just think of Hulk beating up Loki in Avengers or even the gladiator shots from the Thor: Ragnarok trailer. There was nothing nearly as memorable or fun in the Ang Lee Hulk movie. In it, Hulk is moody and introspective even while Hulking out, and he fights nothing interesting nor challenging.

He also looks absolutely terrible. The sequences of him transforming into the Hulk are horribly uncanny. In most of those shots it looks as though they added the green tints to Eric Bana’s skin using the fill function in MS Paint. The Hulk’s look is inconsistent throughout the movie in terms of his size and the texture of his body. Sometimes his skin looks as if it’s made of rubber with weird smooth surfaces, while other times his facial hair and muscles are more defined and clearly visible. Hopefully we’re not making Bruce angry with these criticisms…1. SUICIDE SQUAD’S INCUBUSFans are still divided over whether or not Suicide Squad worked as a movie.

The goals of the characters seemed to change on a dime and not all of the “protagonists” were established as sympathetic or compelling. There were some moments with impressive CGI effects, but also plenty of lackluster ones. The worst offender was Incubus. When Amanda Waller conscripts the Enchantress to advance her agenda, the Enchantress tries to break free and reunite with her brother. In occasional scenes throughout the film, Incubus appears in his procured host with his powers fully restored.

The aesthetic is clearly supposed to be ancient and godly, but the effects look obviously fake. The segmented metal shards that are suspended around Incubus’s body look like they are part of a loose- fitting plastic suit that he’s wearing over his body. The ambient lighting that comes through the shards off of his body is pretty inconsistent from shot to shot. Additionally, the fight against Diablo’s true form makes it look even more unconvincing. AMAZING SPIDER- MAN’S THE LIZARDThe Amazing Spider- Man movies have some impressive action scenes and compelling character moments but, unfortunately, they were too invested in building a convoluted mythology that would sustain a franchise. The effects in the movies were also serviceable, except for the first movie’s villain.

Dr. Connors test out his regeneration serum on himself when his overseer informs him that the company will move ahead with human trials regardless of Connor’s approval. At first it seems like his molting right arm reveals a functional human arm, but then his entire body starts to transform into a colossal reptilian/human monster. The brief scenes where we see the half- mutated Connors are laughable due to the patches of scales and claws. If it weren’t for Spidey and the Lizard fighting on screen the whole time, the human- faced lizard creature would look completely ridiculous and not very menacing. Perhaps a live- action Lizard with a long snout and fangs would have been even more absurd, but they could have at least tried it. FANT4. STIC’S DOCTOR DOOMThe laughable disappointment of the first two modern Fantastic Four movies still lingered with fans by the time the stylized Fant.

The connection to the source material looks tenuous and the character redesigns made many viewers to scratch heads. If the movie had to be PG- 1. Thing? It just draws attention to his conspicuous lack of genitalia, and whose idea was it to give Mister Fantastic’s suit folding extension cables instead of just letting the suit bend and stretch as he does?

However, by far the worst offender is Doctor Doom. He has none of his mysterious backstory from the comics, and looks like a lump of coal wrapped in a burlap sack carelessly flecked with green sparkly bits to give him a lazy other- worldly look. This version of Doctor Doom wouldn’t look good even if the effects were stellar.

X- MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE’S CLAWSThe 2. Century Fox effects team had already worked on Wolverine’s claws in three previous X- men movies, and they were all fine then. However, apparently somebody at Fox decided that in the first Wolverine title and solo movie, they were going to throw out all that work and go with something much worse. Right from the moment that the claws shoot out of Logan’s knuckles for the first time, they look under detailed and inconsistently lit. Of course, the most famously bad shot of the claws is in the bathroom scene.

The claws look like they are simply Photoshopped in front of Logan’s hands, and don’t look like they’re protruding from his knuckles at all. The sparks they make when he swipes them against each other are also totally flat.

For scenes where the claws are idle, most of the other X- Men movies useed handled claws props, and there’s no sore- thumb lighting or shading or blandness to be found there. An Extremely Goofy Movie Full Movie Part 1 here.
